A-Class SE 5dr
The road to emission-free motoring
We are committed to funding and researching technologies that minimise environmental impact. The ultimate goal, though, is not lower emissions, but emission-free driving.

Recent advances in fuel cell drives make it possible to emit nothing but water vapour. We will be introducing the first small-series-production vehicle with fuel-cell technology, the B-Class F-CELL, in 2010.

Around the same time, electric cars powered by lithium-ion batteries that produce zero emissions will be available, bearing the three-pointed star of Mercedes-Benz.

But while we’re designing automobiles to be as environmentally sound as possible, we make no sacrifices in terms of safety, comfort and superior driving performance. In other words, driving pleasure and energy conservation need not be mutually exclusive.
