 | Farnham Royal Cricket Club is hoping that Greenoaks Mercedes-Benz of Slough will bring them even more good luck after they agreed to stump up some additional sponsorship for the coming season. Greenoaks Mercedes-Benz of Slough sponsored the club’s clash against local rivals Slough last summer – a match that saw the Royals romp to an 85-run victory – a result achieved against a team fielding two former internationals in the shape of England’s Chris Lewis and South African Nantie Hayward.
For their forthcoming 2008 Home Counties Division 2 campaign, Greenoaks Mercedes-Benz of Slough has agreed to provide a signboard at the Royals’ Church Road ground and sponsor a match. Club president Dennis Cottrell said that the club has developed significantly over recent years both on and off the pitch – including the recent award of the England Cricket Board’s (ECB) Clubmark standard for youth development.
“We are a very progressive club in what is a competitive catchment area of bigger town clubs,” he said. “While Greenoaks Mercedes-Benz of Slough’s generous support will help us to keep up with our rivals, it will also enable us to encourage the playing of cricket within our community, develop local talent and create a warm, friendly social environment within the club.”
