Terms and conditions

It's very important to us that your Mercedes-Benz never lets you down. Of course, Mercedes-Benz are renowned for their reliability and quality. But just to give you that extra degree of reassurance, every new Mercedes-Benz sold by DaimlerChrysler UK Ltd, comes with a three-year warranty that covers you for any failure caused by a manufacturing defect within the warranty period.

You can also purchase an extension to the warranty from your Official Workshop to give you reassurance for years to come.

All Mercedes-Benz cars are supplied with a warranty. This warranty protects you against failures in the vehicle caused by a defect in its manufacture within the warranty period. This sets out the terms of this warranty. Throughout this page, DaimlerChrysler UK Ltd is referred to as Mercedes-Benz.

How long is the warranty period?
For vehicles sold by Mercedes-Benz in the UK to its franchised Retailers, your warranty lasts for 36 months from the day that your Mercedes-Benz is first registered in the UK (or the date of sale, if earlier than registration). If your vehicle has not been supplied by Mercedes-Benz UK to your Retailer, your warranty may be valid for a different period of time. Please contact your local Retailer for details. As well as lasting for 36 months, your warranty also covers you for unlimited mileage during that period.

What does the warranty cover?
This warranty is our promise to you that your Mercedes-Benz vehicle is free from defects in material or workmanship while it was being made. If it's not, then this warranty means we will arrange for the repair to put any defect right, free of charge.

However, the warranty does only cover items manufactured by us, and only covers the original vehicle and not any modification, accessories, bodywork or other item supplied after the manufacture.

If your vehicle has been specially modified by Mercedes-Benz, the modification is not covered by this warranty, but will be subject to different warranty arrangements. You will need to ask your Retailer to confirm the cover for such modifications.
What doesn't the warranty cover?
If the problem isn't caused by a defect that occurred during the manufacture, called a "warranted defect", then it won't be covered by this warranty. This means that you are not covered for problems caused by the following:
If you ignore any instructions contained in the owner's manual or any instructions from your Retailer or Official Workshop or independent garage.
If you don't respond correctly to any warning lights in the vehicle that appear on the dashboard information system.
If you misuse your vehicle - including not driving it in accordance with the instructions in the owner's manual, driving at excessive speeds or engaging in motor sports.
If you fail to service or maintain the vehicle according to the instructions or at the prescribed intervals as defined in the owner's manual.
If servicing, maintenance or repairs are not performed correctly.
If the failures are caused by any modification, bodywork alterations or fitting of an accessory to your original Mercedes-Benz after its manufacture. These items may be covered by a different guarantee. Please ask your retailer to confirm the cover for these items.
If failure is a result of normal wear and tear on items such as spark plugs, wiper blades, lubricants, brake pads, brake discs, clutches and tyres.
If the failures are caused by external events such as tree sap, storms, or other environmental impacts, or from events such as salt water, accident damage, vandalism or war.
In addition, this warranty does not cover damage to glass, except in the event of a stress fracture.
Write off – any vehicle that has been declared a write off will not be eligible for warranty.
What costs are covered?
Mercedes-Benz shall arrange for the repair to, or where we consider it necessary, the replacement parts necessary to correct the warranted defect.

What costs are not covered?
The warranty covers the repair, but you are not covered for the cost of any related expenses or losses caused by the defect, such as the cost of telephones, rental cars, hotels, taxis, time or inconvenience or any loss of profit, revenue or consequential losses.

While this warranty covers the repairs due to manufacturing defects, it does not cover any costs of maintenance, servicing, or accidental damage, including costs of replacing items that need replacing due to natural wear and tear.

This warranty does not affect a consumer's statutory rights.

How do I sort out a warranted defect problem?
Obviously we want to get you back on the road as quickly and as effortlessly as we can. Please note the following to help us achieve this:
Notify a Mercedes-Benz Official Workshop immediately, or as soon as practically possible, when you notice any problem that may be due to a warranted defect.
The repair work must be carried out by a Mercedes-Benz Official Workshop and all parts must be parts supplied by Mercedes-Benz. We will then reimburse the Official Workshop directly.
You must permit the Official Workshop to fully inspect the vehicle. With some problems, diagnosis may not be possible with only one inspection so you may need to make more than one visit to an Official Workshop.
Any defective parts that have been replaced as part of a warranty repair will become the property of Mercedes-Benz.
The Official Workshop will need to see your vehicles' service and repair history to ensure the problem is not caused by incorrect service or repair work.
In general
The procedure outlined above is the sole remedy available against Mercedes-Benz and the selling retailer in respect of a warranted defect. Except for any personal injury or damage to property caused by the negligence of Mercedes-Benz or the selling retailer, liability for any other forms of loss is excluded.

This warranty replaces all other terms implied by law and any other liability arising at law in respect of the quality of the vehicle, against both Mercedes-Benz and the selling Retailer. Any such terms or liabilities are therefore excluded providing exclusion is not prohibited or negated by law.

The terms of your Mercedes-Benz warranty are in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer under a contract of sale.

Providing warranty conditions have been followed, any unexpired warranty may be transferred to new owners of your vehicle.

These warranty terms apply to all Mercedes-Benz vehicles registered on or after 1 May 1999.

Mercedes-Benz reserves to right to modify or amend these warranty terms without notice.
