At Mercedes-Benz of Slough

The latest version of the world’s most successful business saloon makes its first appearance at Mercedes-Benz of Slough later this month and is a car that can truly claim to be engineered for success.

The Bath Road retail outlet is hosting a launch weekend on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June to celebrate the arrival of the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which builds on the manufacturer’s heritage of producing large luxury saloons and showcases more than 20 new or refined technical developments. What’s more, its supremely efficient engine line-up, combined with innovative BlueEFFICIENCY technology, enables the model to deliver fuel savings of up to 23 per cent.

“The new E-Class sets new standards in safety, comfort and environmental compatibility and also benefits from enhanced equipment and improved technology,” said Mahmood Karmali, Mercedes-Benz of Slough’s Sales Manager. “The model’s reputation for luxury and sheer driving pleasure is already second-to-none but this, the ninth generation E-Class, raises the bar once again and potential owners cannot fail to be impressed by everything it has to offer.”

Mercedes-Benz of Slough’s event will provide motorists with an opportunity to take the new E-Class Saloon and its stunning, two-door Coupé stablemate for a spin and customers are now able to book their test drive appointment for the launch weekend in advance.

Taut, clearly defined lines provide the new E-Class range with a more muscular appearance although the retention of the characteristic twin headlamp design ensures the models remain unmistakably Mercedes-Benz.

Beneath the sharply sculptured exterior lies a wealth of innovation that takes safety, performance and economy to unprecedented heights.

Extensive levels of safety include seven airbags, Neck-Pro crash responsive head restraints and the PRE-SAFE anticipatory protection system and are strengthened by an array of intelligent features, such as the standard Attention Assist drowsiness detection system that monitors more than 70 parameters to ascertain a driver’s level of fatigue.

Avantgarde and Sport models of the new E-Class also feature Adaptive High Beam Assist. An onboard camera recognises oncoming vehicles and graduates the headlamps to ensure that oncoming traffic is not dazzled, whilst still offering the driver an optimum level of light.

The combined package of Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist add extra reassurance. Lane Keeping Assist sends gentle vibrations through the steering wheel when the car detects that the driver is leaving the lane unintentionally. Blind Spot Assist provides visual and audible warnings if the driver indicates to pull out into the path of an unseen overtaking vehicle.
Naturally, the Coupé shares many of the pioneering innovations found in its Saloon cousin, but it showcases a host of unique features too. While the AGILITY CONTROL suspension with active damping is standard on the Coupe, more demanding drivers can choose the Sport line with AGILITY CONTROL sports suspension and speed-sensitive steering or the optional dynamic handling package, which is standard on the E 500 Coupe.

Five E-Class models will be available from launch at Mercedes-Benz of Slough – all of which, apart from the formidable E 500, benefit from BlueEFFICIENCY for better fuel economy and reduced emissions. Its energy-efficient measures include specially-developed tyres with 17 per cent lower rolling resistance and energy-saving control of the alternator, fuel pump, air conditioning compressor and power steering. Prominent displays highlight the car’s current mpg figure to the driver and indicate the ideal gear-changing points for maximum economy.

A duo of twin-turbocharged, 4-cylinder engines debut in the E 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY models, producing 170hp and 204hp and sharing a combined fuel economy figure of 53.3mpg. In manual guise, both engines emit just 139g/km of CO2. The 231hp E 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY is now more powerful than the previous E 320 CDI and returns a better combined fuel economy figure of 41mpg.

The other petrol option that will be available from launch is the E 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY, which will be joined in due course by the E 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY, E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY and flagship E 63 AMG.
