The new C 180 KOMPRESSOR Blue EFFICIENCY

The new C-Class
The C 180 K BlueEFFICIENCY’s arrival also marks various upgrades to the C-Class range. All models now feature a new fuel consumption indicator as well as an aux-in connection for MP3 players. Externally, the new C-Class will be distinguished by it’s new smaller wing mirrors with arrow shaped LED indicator lens.

The first BlueEFFICIENCY C-Class – the new C 180 KOMPRESSOR BlueEFFICIENCY – arrives in November to deliver class leading economy and emissions levels without any loss of performance, dynamism or refinement.

BlueEFFICIENCY is Mercedes-Benz cutting edge technology that combines weight saving measures, engine downsizing, intelligent energy management and enhanced aerodynamics to significiantly enhance economy and reduce emissions.

The result is a car that delivers more for less. The previous 1.8 litre engine is replaced by a new 1.6 litre powerplant. It’s smaller, but at 156bhp its just as powerful as the bigger outgoing engine, while using less fuel. Combined fuel economy has improved by 4.4mpg to just 44.8mpg, while CO2 levels have dropped from 167g/km to 149g/km placing the BlueEFFICIENCY model in the 17% CO2 tax band.

With lighter but more effective noise insulation for the passenger compartment and lightweight alloy wheels, the C 180 K BlueEFFICIENCY is lighter than before. It rides on bespoke Michelin low-rolling resistance tyres to further boost economy, while numerous aerodynamic tweaks reduces the car’s drag to a slippery Cd 0.27. An on demand power steering system and lower gearing to reduce engine revs when cruising also reduce consumption.

Allowing for the lower tax band, at £23,350 on the road, the C 180 K BlueEFFICIENCY is priced exactly the same as the outgoing C 180 K SE model.
