 | | Perform-Safe includes measures to help improve safety on the road. The control and display system, for example, helps to reduce distraction whereas systems such as Electronic Stability Program (ESP) are design to alert and assist the driver in critical situations.
One of the all-new features for the new generation E-Class is the Adaptive Brake system which includes advanced braking technologies including:
- HOLD and hillstart assist function. - Brake drying - which removes moisture that can accumulate on brake discs in wet conditions, thereby reducing braking distances. - Brake priming – which closes the gap between the brake discs and pads as soon as the driver lifts their foot from the accelerator. This anticipation again helps reduce the stopping distance when the brakes are subsequently applied. - Adaptive brake lights - which start flashing to warn the traffic behind when the driver is braking in an emergency, and hazard warning lights which are activated automatically once the vehicle has come to a standstill.
Optional extras available for the E-Class include Bi-Xenon headlamps with a cornering light function which comes as standard with Avantgarde or Sport.
One highlight in every sense of the word is the new optional Intelligent Light System. Based on the Bi-Xenon headlamp system, the low-beam headlamps adapt to the traffic situation automatically, providing wider illumination on country roads and almost doubling the range of the headlamps on the motorway. In addition, LED technology is used to make the sidelights brighter. |
