 | | AirMatic Dual Control (AirMatic DC) is standard on the E 500 and E 63 AMG and optional on all other models. This advanced air-suspension system ensures the maximum vehicle control and handling by regulating air pressure to control valves on each shock absorber. In times when really needed, such as cornering at high speed, AirMatic DC automatically stiffens the spring rate, reducing both pitch and roll.
The ride height of the vehicle is also controlled depending on the situation. For example, when travelling above approx. 85mph, the vehicle is automatically lowered by around 15mm, and then returned to its normal height when speed falls below 44mph.
Manual control is also available, and at the touch of a button the driver can lower the vehicle by 15mm, or for poor road surfaces, raise the body by around 25mm. Ride height automatically reverts back to the standard height after a predetermined length of time above approx. 50mph. |
