BlueEFFICIENCY

Taking less and giving more
At Mercedes-Benz we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of ecologically-sensitive motoring. Our environmental initiatives have already won acclaim in the form of environmental certificates from Germany’s prestigious TUV, awarded to several of our models. The S-Class, A-Class, B-Class and C-Class have all been given the certificate.

To continue our commitment to the environment, we’re introducing super-economical BlueEFFICIENCY editions of some of our most popular models, including the A-Class and B-Class BlueEFFICIENCY. They’re models that are designed with energy-saving in mind. Everything from the engine to the wheels is optimised for minimal fuel consumption and maximum performance. The diesel A 160 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY produces the least emissions of any Mercedes-Benz vehicle at just 116 g/km of CO2, which also makes it class-leading in the premium hatchback sector nationwide. ECO-start A-Class and B-Class BlueEFFICIENCY models with stop-start engine technology will follow in the new year.

Our latest development is the BlueEFFICIENCY C 180 K, which will replace the current C 180 KOMPRESSOR from December 2008 production. This super-efficient model will provide the performance and luxury C-Class drivers have come to expect, while delivering substantial improvements on economy and emissions.

The BlueEFFICIENCY C 180 K combines one of our most iconic designs with revolutionary new energy-saving technology and design. The engine, chassis, tyres and equipment have all been re-developed to reduce resistance and economise on every drop of fuel.

CO2 emissions for the BlueEFFICIENCY C 180 K have been reduced to just 149 g/km, saving 18g/km and bringing substantial reductions in taxation. Fuel consumption is reduced by 11% compared to the existing C 180 KOMPRESSOR design.

The model will feature BlueEFFICIENCY badging on both wings, though the rear “KOMPRESSOR” badging remains the same. And although engine displacement is reduced to 1,597cc, the impressive 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque of the original 180 KOMPRESSOR are retained. Best of all, the OTR is reduced thanks to the savings in CO2 taxation and Road Fund Licence. The Saloon will be available from £23,350, and the Estate version from £24,575.
