 | | The Pre-Safe® system made its debut in the last generation of S-Class. For the new model, it’s been significantly enhanced.
The Pre-Safe® system springs into action in the crucial seconds before an accident, when there is a detectable event such as skidding or heavy braking.
Driver and front passenger seat belts are tightened by electric reversible seat belt pre-tensioners as a precaution. If necessary, the front passenger seat and, if fitted, the electric rear outer seats automatically move to a safer position. If the S-Class is fitted with optional multi-contour seats, the seat cushions are adjusted. The sliding sunroof (if fitted) and side windows will close automatically if the vehicle starts to skid. If the accident is avoided, the reversible seat belt pre-tensioners return to their original setting.
