A recent study by Auto Express has revealed thought-provoking new findings for car drivers in Hull and Lincolnshire.
The magazine tested 4 types of vehicles and compared the stopping distances achieved with a 3mm tread (the minimum reccommended by Mercedes-Benz Hull and Lincolnshire) against the distances achieved with the minimum legal tyre tread level of 1.6mm. The results were startling.
Cars with 3mm tyres stopped an average of 37metres sooner than those with 1.6mm and the approximate speed of a 1.6mm test car when the 3mm one had stopped was an unbelievable 47mph.
