| | Eastern Western Motor Group |
The foundation of the Eastern Western Group lies back in 1910 when our founder John Brown was born. Although he was trained as an insurance broker and an accountant, his love of cars, which later led him to competitive motor sport, drew him towards the motor trade and his first venture was in 1927 repairing bicycle chains. Coincidentally this was also the date of the formation of Eastern Motor Company. In 1981 on the death of our founder John Brown, the business passed to his son Douglas.
Today the Group headed by Douglas, has 500 employees, and has three divisions, Eastern Property, which holds the property portfolio, Gleneagles of Edinburgh Ltd and Eastern Western Motor Group. The Group is ranked number three in Scotland in the Motor Trade Sector and is one of the larger motor groups in the UK.
2002 saw the 75th anniversary of the foundation of our Company and we are rightly proud that the vision John Brown had all these years ago lives on, and is prospering and growing. We intend that the business remains family owned, independent, financially secure and able to give employment and development to all its staff and continued delight to its customers. As John Brown said many years ago "We are not a Company that is here today and gone tomorrow - We are here to stay!" |
