Mertrux claims roadside rescue award

If you’re unlucky enough to break down or be involved in an accident in a Mercedes-Benz truck or van, you’d better hope you do so in the East Midlands.

That, at least, is the view of the manufacturer, which has just presented local agent Mertrux with its Service 24h Dealer Team of the Year award.

Given the potentially disastrous implications of leaving a truck or van carrying a sensitive load stranded at the roadside, for any commercial vehicle sales operation to succeed it must be able to offer its customers efficient rescue and recovery back-up.

Mercedes-Benz has invested huge resources over recent years on improving the effectiveness of its own Service 24h system. A call centre, 150 fully-equipped vans, and 1,160 technicians highly-trained technicians nationwide, are all dedicated to the task.

Best of the best, though, are those based at the Derby, Leicester, Nottingham and Mansfield dealerships of Mertrux, a leading member of the Mercedes-Benz franchised network.

Mertrux beat off the challenge of 21 other dealers nationwide to take the Service 24h Dealer Team of the Year trophy, with average attendance times over the previous 12 months and the proportion of successful roadside ‘fixes’ both figuring highly in the judging criteria.

A delighted Group After Sales Manager Les Sadler declared: “Our hard-working and determined team of Service 24h technicians are encouraged to indulge in a bit of healthy competition – they don’t break any speed limits but they’re always comparing each other’s attendance times.

“It’s all down to professional pride and dedication, and they thoroughly deserve this award.”

Mertrux enjoys a 100 per cent incident attendance record, with an outstanding 98 per cent of all faults being rectified at the roadside.

Supporting the company’s dedicated technicians are Service 24h administrators Kaylea Hughes and Mick Davies, whose job entails keeping customers fully informed of progress during an incident.

Meanwhile, Mertrux was a runner-up in the Dealer Service Team of the Year category, while its Mansfield depot also made the final three in the Mercedes-Benz ‘We Take Care’ Dealer of the Year Award category, for customer care.
