Private detective Roy Streeter investigates new Vito
Private eye Roy Streeter had a dynamic new Mercedes van under surveillance for some time, s as his new set of company wheels.
And having compiled all the evidence the Brighton-based super sleuth made his move, calling at Worthing dealer Rossetts Commercials to buy his Vito 120CDI Dualiner Compact.
With 204hp on tap from its V6 diesel engine, the 120CDI is the most powerful van on the market, and can sprint from 0-62mph in just eight seconds. Yet it is also one of the safest, thanks to a battery of high-tech safety aids which includes the remarkable Adaptive ESP® anti-skid progam.
Roy, who has run the Anchor Bureau of Investigation since 1992, reckons the Vito is ideal for his detective work. “It?s so versatile,” he says. “I can move around inside while carrying out surveillance and thanks to its compact size and very quiet engine it’s also discreet on residential streets.”
An ex-police officer who used to guard former Prime Minister James Callaghan, Roy left the force to become a private detective in 1978. His agency acts as an all-purpose investigator and registered bailiff, handling everything from cases of matrimonial infidelity to murder defences. Roy also receives regular commissions from a renowned Sunday newspaper investigations team and has been hot on the trail of several celebrities in the past.
He chose the Vito Dualiner having been well served by his previous Vito, which clocked -up the miles on missions that took him as far as eastern Europe. “It was a wonderful machine,” Roy says. “I went almost everywhere in it, up and down the country and over to Gibraltar and Croatia, and not once did it leave me by the road side.”
He continues: “I’m delighted with my new Vito. It looks great and has bags of power and acceleration, while thanks to its automatic transmission it’s also easy to drive in London and other city centres. I cant understand why anybody would want a car when they can have a Vito.”
The Vito 120CDI boasts an impressive standard specification that includes alloy wheels, power-assisted steering, electronic immobiliser and disc brakes all round.
Roy ‘s van also has an optional COMFORT package, which features high-quality walnut and chrome interior panelling. He has also opted for privacy glass, to ensure he remains hidden from view on stake-outs.
What’s more, like all Mercedes Vitos the 120CDI model now comes with a class-leading, three-year unlimited mileage warranty.
Away from the clandestine world of the private eye, Roy puts his Vito Dualiner to more everyday uses, which include transporting his two Alsation dogs and towing his pleasure boat. |
