F1 fan John takes Rossetts’ chequered flag
Bognor-based John Osman has landed himself a high performance day to remember by taking top spot in the annual Fantasy Grand Prix run by local Mercedes-Benz truck and van dealer Rossetts Commercials for its service and parts customers.
Contestants had to predict the positions in which drivers in the 2008 Formula One World Championship would finish most often during the season.
And although the competition was breathing down his neck by the end, the kitchen and bathroom specialist clung on to the lead he took in round four with his selection: Raikkonen first, Hamilton second and Kubica fourth.
In the event, of course, Vodafone Mercedes McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton won the F1 Driver’s Championship in the most thrilling finish to a season in years – but despite predicting that the young Briton would finish second, John’s points tally was still good enough to seal his own victory.
John’s prize is an exclusive tour of the high-tech McLaren production facility in Woking :place, followed by a thrilling session behind the wheel of an awesome Mercedes-AMG car on the handling circuits at the nearby Mercedes-Benz World brand experience centre.
The design and installation specialist, who drives a Mercedes Sprinter van, says: “I’m an avid F1 follower, although I must admit that the red cars of Ferrari are my favourites. So I’m certainly looking forward to putting my foot down in a Mercedes with 600hp on tap!”
