Mercedes-Benz team goes on the run for charity
Staff representing Leeds’ two Mercedes-Benz retailers certainly put their ‘heart and sole’ into a charity fun run.

The team stepped into action to take part in the city’s Race for Life event and raise money for Cancer Research in the memory of a former colleague.

Popular Sales Executive Tim Gray worked at Mercedes-Benz of Leeds’ Gelderd Road showroom for 6 years. His untimely death at the age of just 47 after a short battle against cancer prompted former work-mates Sarah Donaghey, Samantha Haigh, Nicola Hebden-Mount, Gail Lockwood, Toni O’Hare and Shelley Wright to put their best feet forward in the five-kilometre event, which was held at Temple Newsam at the weekend.

Sponsored by colleagues, friends and families, the team hope that their participation will raise around £900.

“Tim was a lovely guy, great fun to work with and always put a smile on your face,” said Gail Lockwood, Personal Assistant to the Group’s Divisional Director. “As he is still greatly missed by everyone in the business, we decided to do something to raise money in his memory and the Race for Life provided an ideal opportunity.

“It was a fantastic day,” she added. “Not only was there a great atmosphere among the 8,000 people taking part but the weather was glorious – Tim was certainly looking down on us that’s for sure.”
