 | As an award-winning sign-maker, ASG knows all about the importance of making an eye-catching first impression. No surprise, then, that it has just invested once again in a new fleet of 15 new Mercedes vans.
Basildon-based ASG (Ace Signs Group), which manufactures signs for a host of household names, including Tesco, has bought 11 Sprinter vans and four Vitos.
Supplied by Thurrock dealer S&B Commercials, they are now being used to transport signs and ferry ASG’s engineers to sites all over the UK and the Continent.
ASG Fleet Manager Mick Baker says the decision to return to Mercedes-Benz with its latest order was based on the company’s previous experience of operating vans bearing the legendary three-pointed star.
”Mercedes vans represent great value for money,” he affirms. “They are strong and dependable, but also comfortable to drive, well-equipped and very popular with our staff.
“We have tried vehicles by other manufacturers in the past but none compare to Mercedes. In short, they do ‘exactly what it says on the tin’.”
ASG’s new vans are each expected to cover up to 100,000 miles a year. Most are 3.5-tonne high-roofed Sprinter 318CDIs with Medium and Long body lengths, although it has also bought four 2.77-tonne Vito 115CDI Compacts.
The Mercedes are fitted with special racking installed by Anglian Vehicles Liners, of Frinton-on-Sea, Essex, while ASG itself is responsible for their striking liveries.
ASG was founded in 1960 and confirmed as a leader in its field when it scooped the ‘Sign of the Year 2006’ prize at the annual Sign Industry Awards, for its spectacular illuminated ‘Letters in the Sky’ design at Birmingham’s Fort Dunlop complex.
Its signs promote numerous leading brands across the automotive, corporate, financial, leisure and retail sectors. Other ASG clients include Sainsbury, Jaguar and Royal Bank of Scotland, and it has recently completed a large installation at a flagship PC World store in Madrid.
